Wychwood Village - Residents - Community Centre - Planning Update 29th March Following distribution of a notice by a local resident we would like to clarify a few points: Most importantly, the comment in the notice "the owner of the club has confirmed that the permanent building is not going to be built" is simply not true. The Temporary Building, due to it's design, can be erected quickly, with very little 'disruption'. It is an attractive log style building from a quality manufacturer, Pinelog. It would be constructed in a position such that it will not interfere with building the future permanent clubhouse. The service connections made for the temporary building will be capable of supplying the future building to keep disruption to a minimum. We have a common goal - to have a smart permanent clubhouse and a community centre for the community. Given the current situation we believe that an initial step of a temporary clubhouse will be the fastest and most practical way to achieve both of the above. We can be in the temporary building and out of the Community Centre this summer 2008. A permanent clubhouse would be Autumn 2009 at the earliest due to the need for detailed design work, building regulations, tendering and then the actual building and fitting out. Once we have moved out of the Community Centre we can turn our attention to the future clubhouse. Note posted by Gorstyhill to all properties on 28th March: We are writing to inform you of our plans for Gorstyhill Golf Club and how it relates to the Community Centre. As most of you will know, we have been using the Community Centre as the Golf Clubhouse. We currently have planning permission for a large clubhouse next to the new car park but for various reasons work on its structural design and construction has not started. Realistically, it would be 18-24 months from starting the process to moving in to a completed clubhouse. With that in mind we wanted to find a faster solution and have now applied for planning permission for a temporary timber clubhouse. We believe that the proposed timber clubhouse will be a positive step for the golf club as it will provide the facilities that have been lacking since it opened. It will also enable the local council and residents to fully utilise the Community Centre at a far earlier date. We have shown a plan and elevations of the proposed building to show its intended location and that it is an attractive ‘log’ style building. The planning application was submitted to the Local Authority in February and if successful we hope to have the building up and running early this summer. We hope that this explains the situation and hope that the plan works to the benefit of all concerned. Back to top
