Gorstyhill Golf Club in South Cheshire was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur and golf enthusiast David Holmes. His vision was a modern club with members as its core and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for members, visitors, societies and golfers of all levels, ages and genders. Despite his untimely passing in 2008, his vision has continued and Gorstyhill Golf Club has become exactly that.
Have a look at the membership page to see more information about joining and the options available. Easily accessible and convenient for Cheshire and Staffordshire golfers.
Built in 2009 the Gorstyhill clubhouse is light, comfortable and provides all the facilities you would expect: Bar, dining, changing rooms with showers, terrace, pro-shop and sports tv.
There is a well stocked bar serving a range of draught and bottled beers, cider, wines and soft drinks at sensible prices. Catering is available from 10am weekdays (earlier if pre-arranged) and 8am at weekends, providing everything from a breakfast bap to a 3 course meal.
Overlooking the 9th green and facing west it really is a relaxing place to be. You can also enjoy a full range of golf and football on the widescreen TV thanks to the sports package introduced this year.
A great place to scrutinise your card, discuss your best shots or just relax and watch the golf through the windows (or on the tv).
The Club and course exist to provide great golf at good value. It is that simple. All our efforts are directed to this aim, including the course maintenance, presentation and continual improvements. This philosophy extends to the running of club competitions, tee management and customer service for members and visitors.
The traditions and the spirit of the great game of golf itself must be upheld. Otherwise competitive (and even social) golf would cease to be great. However, at Gorstyhill Golf Club, the traditions ‘surrounding’ the game are assessed on their practical or logical relevance. We believe this is where common sense in the 21st century prevails and many members have joined based on that principle alone.
The additional golfing facilities at Gorstyhill Golf Club are particularly beneficial for improving your short game. You have a large USGA green for putting or chip & run, there is a practice bunker and target greens at varying distances.
Given the number of shots played on, to and around the green during a game of golf, we have geared our practice facilities towards helping golfers in these areas.
The excellent large practice green is constructed the same way (all USGA - sand based) as the greens on the course. This ensures that not only will you be enjoying a quality putting surface all year, your pre-game practice will be relevant to your game on the day.
At Gorstyhill we have invested in an extensive range of quality equipment for you to enjoy. You can rent a basic pull trolley or hire one of our new PowaKaddy electric carts (try before you buy?). In addition we have a fleet of quiet (and relaxing) 2 seater Club Car electric buggies.
