Golf Course

Dress Code

We hope this page helps those unsure regarding the dress code at Gorstyhill.  Yes there are rules- some of which you may agree/disagree with however we believe that our code marries the traditions & heritage of the game with a modern forward thinking attitude.

On The Golf Course

Please respect the club by having a tidy appearance both on and off the course. Although a modern club and more relaxed that some of the older private members clubs in the area, we still expect reasonable standards of appearance and etiquette. We consider that this is not unwarranted even in the 21st century. For example we do not believe that jeans and tee shirts belong on a golf course but golfers that understand and follow the conditions below will be most welcome.

Shirts- must be collared and sleeved, turtle necks & roll necks are acceptable.  Shirts must be tucked in at all times.  No denim, rugby shirts, tee-shirts, shirts with slogans or sweaters without golf shirts are allowed.

Trousers/Shorts- all players must wear either shorts or long trousers, no 3/4 length shorts permitted.  Shorts must be knee length, have a tailored finish and must have hip pockets only (not multiple pockets)

NO COMBAT SHORTS allowed, no sports shorts (including football shorts etc) or denim shorts allowed.  tailored shorts with INTERNAL pockets permitted.

Socks- must be worn and be predominantly a single colour.  No football socks allowed on the course.  Ankle socks are permitted.

Shoes- only recognised golf footwear is permitted.  Metal spikes (including softspikes with a centre metal spike) are strictly not permitted.

Players in breach of this code will be asked to dress appropriatly or leave the course.
